Question Ghostbusters controversy - blown out of proportion?

Oh, dear. It seems this same thing happens whenever a high-profile multiplatform game is released. Rumors start floating around about one version of the game being inferior (usually seems to be the PS3 version), developers have to explain themselves, internet explodes. The latest video game that has fallen under such heavy scrutiny is Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which was developed my Terminal Reality and published by Atari. Without going into too much detail, the game is being widely regarded as one of the better movie tie-ins in recent memory.

It has been reported by many sites that the PS3 version of the game was rendered at 75% of the resolution that the 360 version is. And then it was reported that there was a mistake, and that the PS3 version was actually a mere 56% (!) of the 360 version's resolution. Based on this, it's safe to say that the PS3 version of Ghostbusters is inferior to the 360 version (even Terminal Reality themselves admitted it). But exactly how inferior is the PS3 version? Is it enough to make the average Ghostbusters fan/PS3 owner want to get a 360, or is it even noticeable? This is what you're (hopefully) going to find out from this article.

This is going to be a very simple little experiment that will show everybody how minor (or major) the graphical differences between the two versions are. Below are ten screenshots of the game that I've taken from a few different sites; five of them from the 360 version and five from the PS3 version. But there's a catch; I'm not going to tell you which version of the game you're looking at. They won't be appearing in any particular order, either, which means that there will be no indicator whatsoever...except for the graphics. If the PS3 version is so incredibly inferior, then you should have no problem figuring out which version of the game is in the screenshot. And if you can't see the difference, then...well, it's pretty clear what that means.

Now I ask you, can you see the difference? Do you know which screenshots are from which version? I'm not going to say which screenshot is from which system (to make sure the fanboy goggles stay off for this one), but the bottom line is if you can't see the difference, then go ahead and get it for the PS3 (or 360; whichever you prefer), and if you can see it, just get the 360 version if you can. But no matter which one you pick up (get it on Wii if you want), enjoy the game.

Euh... you better off sticking to Wii related stuff! Your article is totally besides the point buddy! PS3 and XBox 360 owners don't pay around 20-35 euro for their games like those who own a Wii. So any cross examination of a title is, down to the most impertinent detail is worth making the consumer aware what they are buying and in the end supporting!

now if you compared the Wii vs the PS3 now that would make a case for sure.

I want the 3 minutes of my life back that I just wasted reading this 'article' and the 1 minute I spent venting on how much of a waste this 'article' is.

Personaly I own a 360 a PS3 and a PC capable of playing Ghostbusters, and as a matter of fact, the differences are noticeable in the direct comparision screenshots released on other websites. If you could at least post screenshots @ the resolution they were taken, the differences would be visible.

For me I will buy the game in the PC, because it is much cheaper and I can play withh better resolution.

I believe Lens of Truth should get the credit for exposing this issue first.
http://www.lensoftruth.com/

except the real shame is this game is bad and nobody should buy it for any console. telling people one turd tastes better than another is a crime, imo.

lens of truth are 360 fanboys anyways. they show how some rocks are drawn better on one game on pause and then say the game offers a better experince.

I would say

X, X, P, X, P, P, P, X

The last two i´m not shure, but i would say X, P

- If you own both consoles you will purchase the 360 version.
- If you own only a PS3 and are a huge fan you will purchase it for the PS3 and secretly envy the 360 version wishing you could play it.
- If you own a 360 you are pleased as punch.

Well, sure. It's obvious when you know which version you're looking at. And everybody's seen the article those screenshots are from, so everybody knows which version is which.
