Bronze Link's Crossbow Training + Wii Zapper

Introduction

The long awaited add-on gun to the Nintendo Wii arrives in style with a first party trial game. The Wii Zapper, as it was coined, required the player to insert the Nunchuk and WiiMote into plastic casing to provide the structure of a gun. Mainly targetted at the First Person Shooter genre, the Wii Zapper quickly found it's way into the arcade setting. This was because the player's quick access to essential motion controls was limited, and therefore left them with more shooting and less moving.

Single Player

Link's Crossbow training is set within the Twilight Princess maps, graphics and enemies. This game requires certain tactics, strategy and sharp aiming. Players compete against the clock, in desperation to achieve the highest final score. The game features 9 playable levels, and the goal is to accomplish with the highest score possible within the given time limit.

Nostalgic gamers may claim the relation of this game to an all famous duck hunt, which once stunned gaming audiences of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Duck Hunt also came with it's own add-on to the system, like Link's Crossbow Training. There is no plot to this game, just Link attending his daily training. Overall, a short game with little competitive nature within the gameplay. Nice demo or trial game which accompanies the Wii Zapper, and gives an idea of it's capabilities.

Multiplayer

This game offers a unique look into multiplayer action, given it's reputation as a one player series. Players take turns in competing to achieve the highest score on a certain level or map. A very limited multiplayer function, which should not be considered as competitive, intuitive or interactive.

This feature has always been a downfall in the Zelda series due to it's lack of ambition to add a Wi-Fi or local multiplayer function.
However, with upcoming announcements, the Zelda audience hope for Online Co-Op mode on Zelda games, which would expand the franchise beyond once known bounds in Nintendo gaming.

Gameplay

Very limited gameplay as the only weapon capable of weilding is the crossbow. However, it is an effective weapon nonetheless. Enemies are also limited, but the satisfaction of shooting one is relatively good.
The biggest flaw of this whole game is a large one, which is a shame as everything else was pretty decent. It is a hard flaw to explain in writing, but I will try to make you understand easily. The Wii Zapper makes it so that the Nunchuk is behind the WiiMote so that "B" or the trigger button is at the front of the equipment. This may seem irrelevant, but when compared to naturally holding a real gun, the trigger is closer the the back of the gun, or in the Wii Zapper's case, the trigger button would naturally be "Z" on the Nunchuck.

This whole situation leaves the simulation aspect of the Wii Zapper obsolete, and damages the whole purpose of it. It's popularity in third party games and now even first party games has diminished, mainly because of this fatal flaw present in the structure of the Wii Zapper.

Graphics and Sound

The graphics are directly modelled off Twilight Princess, using the same maps, sets and enemies. These graphics are genuinely quite good by Wii standards. The background graphics lack detail and implicate blurryness across the horizon. As good as a foreground gets; this game emulates the same intricate and specific details put into each object.
The sound and music are riddled with nostalgic tunes that recalibrate the players sense of Hyrule's glory. The very usual switch between sharp and soft music depending on whether an enemy approaches gives the game a tense feel. Complaints do not lie in this area, especially with the success of Twilight Princess.

These Gorons have been watching too much Jackass.

Conclusion

In all, this game is decent but lacks ambition; there were no risks taken by Nintendo. The Wii Zapper's structural aspect is flawed. The Wii Zapper has not found it's niche in gaming, as it wants to be in First Person Shooters but is more suitable for arcade games, which exist in little numbers. It's effectiveness in simulation is inaccurate, but is worth a try if you are experimental with these things.

+Simple controls and gameplay
+Easy to pick up and play
+Quite fun for a day or two

-Completely inaccurate
-Difficult to play with in other games
-Very small game, even for £20 and a chunk of plastic

. No buy

More in-depth about the graphics and sound please, and much more is needed in the multiplayer section.

There's nothing to say
It's like a 15 minute game with a small replayability factor, completely modelled off Twilight Princess...

EDIT: fine then... under popular demand; i'll ramble on about same old same old graphics SAME OLD @@

Is the multiplayer fun, can it be played online, how may split-screen, how many different levels are there to play it on.

Updated the review.
It has no multiplayer remember, just who can get the highest score, which does not merit the term "multiplayer"...

EDIT: guys wtf do you think this is? like a 40 hour RPG ... it's a demo game with a piece of add-on equipment... stop asking for depth that doesn't exist in this shallow game...

I can't belive I hyped this game.
- The Zapper sucks
- the game is shallow
- it should have been a 3rd person shooter, like those scout missions, they were awesome.
